SlateStone Wealth’s Chief Equity Strategist, Erin Gibbs, joined Making Money with Charles Payne to discuss the Fed, small-cap opportunities and standout stocks.
Erin explained that history shows small-caps tend to outperform once the Fed has cut rates by a cumulative 200 basis points, an environment we may be approaching soon. With valuations still deeply discounted, she sees small- and mid-cap equities as offering attractive risk/reward.
She also highlighted specific names: Celsius, boosted by its Alani Nu acquisition and Pepsi partnership, and Astera Labs, positioned to benefit from AI-driven semiconductor demand. On the flip side, she cautioned about Oracle’s massive OpenAI deal, warning it could prove overly ambitious given the profit growth required.
