Michael D. McCorkle serves as Chief Compliance Officer of SlateStone Wealth, where he leads the firm’s regulatory compliance, enterprise risk governance, and operational resilience programs. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s supervisory framework, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring alignment with applicable regulatory requirements while supporting the firm’s continued growth and operational integrity.

Michael brings extensive global experience in compliance, enterprise risk management, business continuity, and crisis response across financial services and fintech organizations. Over the course of his career, he has designed and led centralized compliance and resiliency functions spanning multiple jurisdictions, enhancing audit readiness, regulatory engagement, and enterprise-wide risk oversight. His leadership has supported complex regulatory environments and evolving supervisory expectations in both domestic and international markets.

Prior to joining SlateStone Wealth, Michael held senior leadership positions within global financial institutions and advised executive teams on governance modernization, regulatory strategy, and operational continuity planning. His experience includes direct engagement with U.S. and international regulatory bodies and oversight of cross-border compliance frameworks.

Michael’s career reflects a unique blend of public and private sector leadership. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, a political officer with the U.S. Department of State, and as a speechwriter for the Governor of California.

A native of Los Angeles, California, Michael has lived and worked overseas and now resides in Jupiter, Florida, with his wife and two sons.
